Care requirements differ by material. Here's what to know for the stone types in our catalogue.
Gneiss
Gneiss is a dense, weather-resistant metamorphic stone used across our cladding, wall stone, fillet, and garden ranges. It has naturally low porosity and generally does not require sealing for exterior use, though sealing can help preserve color intensity over time in high-traffic paving applications.
Marble
Used in our pebbles, chips, and wall cladding lines (Thassos, Spider, Porolithos, and related colorways). Marble is more porous than gneiss and can etch when exposed to acidic substances. For exterior decorative use (pebbles, chips, wall cladding) this is rarely an issue; for any interior or high-contact application, we recommend a breathable stone sealer.
Limestone
Used in several of our garden stone and rainbow pebble products. Limestone is porous and benefits from sealing in applications with frequent moisture contact.
General cleaning
- Routine cleaning: clean water and a soft brush is sufficient for most exterior stone
- Avoid acidic or highly alkaline cleaning products on marble and limestone surfaces
- For cladding and paving, periodic re-sealing (every 1–3 years depending on exposure) helps maintain color and reduce staining
Natural variation
All our products are genuine natural stone. Color, veining, and texture vary piece to piece and batch to batch — this is expected and is part of the material, not a defect.
